I served in Fort Langley briefly in 1960 as a signalman loaned for the purpose of a large fleet exercise involving all SEATO countries. What a difference i found from flagship routine (HMS Belfast) and the two destroyers I had afterwards (HMS CASSANDRA AND HMS CAVALIER). Remember we were an ammunition ship, and had to anchor off TRINCOMALEE cos they wouldnt let us in the harbour. As a 16 year old RN signalman I found the Merchant Navy style somewhat easier than what I was used to, I even had a bunk. Don Ford ex RN L/Signalman
