Long article

[edit]

This page is awfully long. On the one hand, it's tempting to give many of these topics their own page, like Fhqwhgads. But on the other hand, many of the sections are short and don't really deserve their own page.

Both The Simpsons and South Park (the only two shows I investigated) have separate pages for their main characters. Maybe Homestar Runner should follow this route? -AaronSw 07:28, 7 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Homestar Runner is not a popular or well-known as The Simpsons and South Park. I can understand why you would like separate pages for characters, but that might be too big of a project and have many stub articles. -Saddy Dumpinton 22:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This page ought to be renamed. Places are not characters. -Branddobbe 02:53, Mar 20, 2004 (UTC)

I agree. Meneth 16:48, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe there should be another article for places. Maybe "List of Homestarrunner Places." But I do agree that places such as "Club Technochocolate" and the games section should be made into other articles, and expanded. -Saddy Dumpinton 22:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the reference do Donnie Darko in the Teen Girl Squad section of the character page. Should it be eliminated or did I miss something?

Regarding the name of Cowcopter/Sherlock, one of the extras on the Strong Bad Emails DVD (disc three, "Sketchbook") has Mike and Matt giving the character's real name. Hence where I got the edit from. At any rate, I think most people will keep calling it Cowcopter. CaptainSpam 20:43, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Where is the Teen Girl Squad section? There are numerous characters found there that aren't mentioned at all in this character list. It should be updated. Also, the games section should be updated with the new "Stinkoman 20X6" game. -Bobby D.

It's on Teen Girl Squad. -- Cyrius| 02:22, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I've also added the game, as well as making its own page. --Stlunko 404 13:18, 29 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Page Move

[edit]

I read the suggestion that the page should be moved/renamed, and I totally agree. I suggest that the page be renamed "Homestar Runner Universe" (it is the best I can think of at the time). If there are better suggestions I will definitely welcome them! If there are no comments/objections, I will do the move in no less than 5 days time. --Stux 16:44, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, it's day 6 and I have no idea what to call it. I don't want to call it "Homestar Runner Universe" -- it doesn't sound right, but neither do any of my other ideas (like "Homestar Runner Features"). I only want the move to be made once. So if anyone's reading this I could really use some input. --Stux 01:05, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fhqwhgads Robot

[edit]

Shouldn't this be changed to The Robot? That is the proper name, and that's how he was referred to by other H*R characters. He was called "Fhqwhgads Robot" once in the Weekly Sketchbook for April 28, 2005. His debut appearance is in "Homestarloween Party", which was before fhqwhgads. —Gm1121983 01:16, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would go ahead and change it. —Mariusz Zielinski 12:17, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, The Robot is an older character who happened to show up a few times. The Brothers Chaps named him "fhqwhgads robot." Oh, and sorry for acussing you of being a HRWiki shmo in my edit summary. Those guys are elusive. ;) — Phantasy Phanatik | talk | contribs 23:42, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop adding "fhqwhgads" to the robot's name. As far as can be determined, the robot doesn't have an official name, and it a huge stretch to assume that the sketchbook is supposed to be one. In fact, as Gm1121983 mentioned above, the robot appeared before that song and has made several other appearances that have nothing to do with Fhqwhgads. 205.188.116.196 02:57, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's what the know-nothings at HRWiki say. Wikipedia is for knowledge. The Brothers Chaps called him that. And the fact that the Fhqwhgads Robot appeared before Fhqwhgads doesn't make the fact that he is named that any less valid. — Phantasy Phanatik | talk | contribs 05:41, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Wikipedia is for knowledge, not for out-of-context speculation. Outside of that random sketchbook, it makes absolutely no sense to call him that. It is therefore more likely that The Brothers Chaps did not indend to imply that that was a name. It is more likely that it was just a description. In either case, "the robot" is a suitable description, and "fhqwhgads robot" is possibly inaccurate; we should therefore go with the former as the more neutral choice. 64.12.116.204 02:48, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I changed it to "unnamed robot." Giving a character or element which is unnamed a fanon name is the way of HRWiki, and Wikipedia should have nothing to do with this, unless we decide to create a conjecture tag like at Wookieepedia. — Phantasy Phanatik | talk | contribs 03:14, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You know, I was all ready to applaud you for being willing to look for a wording that everyone could agree on, and then I come to this talk page and see that you are still insulting the H*R wiki over one or two of your pet fringe issues that have nothing to do with the grand sceme of things. The H*R wiki is the definitive resource for all things Homestar Runner, and the fact that you think it's full of fanon is both absurd and sad. I'll still say good prize for being willing to compromise, but you really need to get down off your pedestal. 205.188.116.196 22:24, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Homestar Runner Wiki is marred by fanon and always uses the quick fix, even if it means alienating Homestar Runner fans. Wikipedia is a knowledge base, and we should have none of Homestar Runner Wiki's nonsense. — Phantasy Phanatik | talk | contribs 03:58, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Which articles are marred by fanon? Where are these quick fixes being employed? Who are these fans who are being alienated? Can you give any specifics at all? And if your answers are: "the robot article", "the robot article", and "me", then you're gonna have to do a lot better than that. 64.12.116.204 21:25, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Support the merge. Fhqwhgads is not a very important part of H*R anymore. —BazookaJoe 18:32, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Support per above. -- ~D-Lord (Sign!) (TCE) 16:46, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name change proposal

[edit]

I propose this article be renamed "World of Homestar Runner" as to can then be rightly called what it currently is, all the details about Homestars world. Judgesurreal777 04:01, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maintenance template

[edit]

This article needed some sort of maintenance template, I wasn't sure what so I used {{fansite}}.

The problems in a nutshell:

  • The lead is almost non-existent, and doesn't tell the reader what Homestar Runner is or what this article is about
  • There's too much detail to here to interest the casual reader

Hope that helps. --kingboyk 20:38, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pfargtl

[edit]

Does Pfargtl really warrant a reference in this article? I mean, seriously, it's only been used in one instance and at that not a particularly notable one. If no one has any objections I'll remove it, or perhaps someone else would like to. ABVS1936 14:18, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changing a few things

[edit]

Although I like the fact this article is fixed, we may need to expand The Cheat Commandos (we can copy the one found on the Homestar Runner Article (body of work). We may also need to remove Pfargtl. It isn't relevant on the site yet (It has only been mentioned once). ABVS1936 is right about it. Just tell me if it could work.--Bad-Gy 14:13, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
