"Immoral power"

[edit]

I understand that there is no other category for the fact that Mr Sinister is immoral, but should it really come under "Notable powers"?

BowserMarkII 16:34, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not, especially since circumstances in Colossus: Bloodline led readers to believe that Sinster's powers were waning and needed to be revitalized by a reincarnated Grigory Rasputin. Possibly remove immortality from the powers section but put a notes section on the page explaining what I just said. Tullyman 20:31, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is he a mad scientist or an evil genius? I guess the latter. --David.alex.lamb 02:52, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say he's both -- he is a top-notch scinetist -- though he does lean more towards the latter. Oh, and it really should be immortal, not immoral... though both are appropriate in his case Dr Archeville 18:45, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually with a name like Sinister it should be obvious that he is immoral, since he cracked the Human and Mutant Genome in the 1800's and built some high tech equipment at the same time, in my opinion he is a top-notch scientist and evil genius in the Dr. Doom level of intelligence at least. He has absorbed the knowledge of many via telepathy and due to his long life has read many books and gained tons of knowledge. He also has modified his own DNA and the DNA of others to give them and himself more powers, as well as created clones and other things. Orion Blastar (talk) 03:30, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a citation for him being immortal? Could he not have a long life span but not be immortal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ldstryfe (talkcontribs) 00:03, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the X-Men Legacy series comics it is revealed that Mr. Sinister uses a Cronos machine that he built in the 1800's that transfers his powers and mind to someone he imprinted his DNA on via experiments. So if he dies, his mind and powers go to whomever the Cronos machine cycles to at that time. Sebastian Shaw was one subject but his father built a cloak, Professor X was another but he fought off Mr. Sinister, eventually Mr. Sinister's mind and powers went into a Claudine Renko who calls herself as Miss Sinister, and feels that she can do better work as a female. She appears to be 18 years old or in her early 20ths and tried to seduce Daken in X-Men Legacy #217 in order to get him to work for Sebastian Shaw. It is unknown if another Cronos device can be built. It is also unknown if Sinister put in an antiaging gene in his DNA like Wolverine has, and that accounts for his long life and legendary rumor of immortality. But my best guess is that Mr. Sinister just goes to a new host body and takes it over or merges with the mind in the body. I'd call it a mind and power transfer as a power that comes from technology and it is not a mutant ability or super power. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. Introduction Error

[edit]

"is a supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe. The character is a recurring foe of the X-Men"

With is recent death, it should be in the past tense.

"was a supervillian in the Marvel Comics universe. The character was a recurring for of the X-Men"

I realize he has not been dead that long, but characters that are confirmed dead are written of in the past tense because they are no longer alive in the present. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.176.150.105 (talk) 00:03, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How many times in the past has Sinister "died"?? I don't think he's going to stay dead. --Drunknesmonsta (talk) 00:30, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you site a source for his death? Raven Darkholm was also absorbed by Rogue but she is very much alive so until their is a sited definative source he should not be listed as dead. Jason —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ldstryfe (talkcontribs) 14:41, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • That's true, however, IIRC Rogue consciously spared Mystique's life. With Sinister, though, not only was Rogue comatose, but the following issues of MC treated Sinister as being very, very dead. Hence why he didn't get back up, as Mystique has. Of course, it's Marvel, but (for now) Sinister's dead. TheJoust (talk) 21:04, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources?

[edit]

Where are the sources for Sinister's biographical info for those who want to read the complete stories in the comics? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.225.130.109 (talk) 06:52, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Both are appropriate!?"

[edit]

Since when has immorality been a "notable superpower"? Immortal is the only thing that fits there, and I'll have to edit it to get rid of that obvious mistake.

Both are appropriate b/c Sinister is both immortal and immoral. Never said "immoral" was a power (though I thought I had gone and edited that bit in his charbox). --Dr Archeville 05:31, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

I don't know a whole lot about Mister Sinister, but I think the main image could be better (maybe something like this[1]). The current one is very dark, dfoes not show a lot of his costume, and due to the shadows etc it is kind of confusing...Davey4

Yeah, I'm not so found of it either. Here's a few images [2] [3] DCincarnate

Personally I dont have a problem with the pic but, I like the top pic of the second choice more. That first pic makes Sinister look to weak, Thefro552 13:14, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah any of those posted seem better to me. Just as long as it is lighter, and it clearly shows his face/costume etc. ThanksDavey4

Here is another one I found. [4] DCincarnate

The link is Forbidden. Oooooooh Scary :) Thefro552 06:18, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. Here it is [5] DCincarnate

Looks like some high school kid drew that. I still like the other image. Thefro552 16:22, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Which image was that? DCincarnate

Link #3, the top image, the full body shot. Thefro552 04:14, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I have added a new image of Sinister DCincarnate

Looks good. Two thumbs up. :) Thefro552 16:58, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Invunerable?

[edit]

I have had an issue with the usage of the word invunerable. By definition invunerable means to be completly impervious to harm. There is no character that is completly invunerable, even the likes of Superman and Thor can still be hurt (granted its way more difficult for them).

In Essex's case the only protection he really has is tougher skin, his healing factor takes care of the rest. The example of him being shot through the head expresses this perfectly. Superhuman durability seems to me to be a better representation of this ability. Please comment. Thefro552 03:41, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Teleportation?

[edit]

Sinister has shown the ability to teleport on several occasions: X-Men #23-27-45-52 and Cable #6. In Colossus Bloodlines #5, Mikhail Rasputin mentions that Sinister can teleport. Sinister's OHOTMU bio also outright states that Sinister is a teleporter. -- DCincarnate (talk) 22:14, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WOW

[edit]

I liked the original article better than this. It was nice to have a reference point for all of his past exploits. This article doesn't do this character justice given the amount of problems he has created for various X-Teams. To be honest its kinda disapointing. --Drunknesmonsta (talk) 00:27, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The original article was terrible. The problem with Sinister's history is that he makes a small appearance in an (X-Men) issue, does SOMETHING bad, but there is hardly much he does worthwhile, aside from what you can see in the article that I left in, nor is there any real conclusion to his schemes. It's difficult to write out Sinister's full history because it's frankly just clutter. DCincarnate (talk) 00:03, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You wiped out mass amounts of information in the past, then recently, after the article grew in size again, mass deleted large amounts as well. [6] Among your deletions I question the following:
This research is valid in the Marvel Universe. He was obsessed with evolution, and first discovered mutations.
He helped create a notable character, the High Evolutionary appearing in many different Marvel comics, and playing a key role in various events. Did his research help Wyndham transform himself? Or would this just show how close they were?
His research was what got the Weapon's X project going. Anything notable the guy did, that affected the Marvel Universe, should be mentioned.
  • Did you have a reason to delete what you did? Did you read the information you eliminated? It looks like you just grabbed just most of the article and deleted it. 32,272 reduced to 13,093 bytes in one edit. Dream Focus 20:37, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Miss Sinister dead?

[edit]

Sorry, but seeing as Mister Sinister has taken so much and survived, no one has any right to assume that Miss Sinister is dead as a result of the latest storyline. Until Marvel confirms her death, it is speculation. Sorry to disappoint the fanboy who jumped at the chance to list she was killed....awwwwww. Timmyfitz161 (talk) 06:03, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Add new sinister to the summers family Third summers brother

[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Summers_brother

regarding the subject of the third summers brother in X-men and hopfully you can edit and add this new info  this new sinister is a clone the Original sinister is died kieron Gillen the writer of Uncanny x-men Vol. 2 wrote and explain more on his formspring that this new clone sinister does in fact have summers DNA  in him the link is below with the others showing proof

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mister_Sinister#2010s Now dressed in Victorian era garb, Mister Sinister resurfaced in the pages of Uncanny X-Men #544. In Uncanny X-Menvol 2 #1, he merges with the Dreaming Celestial and warps its head to match his own and uses the power he gained as a result, to turn San Francisco's residents into doppelgangers of himself. Mister Sinister regards this as a new species, the perfect species, but is defeated and forced from San Francisco. During the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline, Mister Sinister has built his own city (based on Victorian-era London) in the Moloids' underground tunnels within Subterranea. The city is inhabited solely by his clones. After disposing of a rebel clone, he explains to one of his other clones that he has foreseen that the Phoenix Force would come after Hope Summers, that the Avengers would try to stop it and clash against the X-Men, resulting in the Phoenix Five. He also knows that the Phoenix Five will soon come after him and intends to take the Phoenix energy away from them by using a group of Madelyne Pryor clones.[35] During a meeting of the Extinction Team, the Phoenix Five reveal to Magneto, Storm, Psylocke and Danger (who is still controlled by UNIT) that Mister Sinister is the one who told Hope about the Phoenix Force, and ponder on the danger that his goals may represent to the world. The Phoenix Five leave their teammates behind and track Mister Sinister to Anchorage, Alaska (Cyclops's birthplace) finding out that he built his city in the underground tunnels beneath Anchorage. Mister Sinister then orders his clones to enter into war against the Phoenix Five.[36] One by one, the Phoenix Five members are taken down by Mister Sinister's cloned creatures (including a clone of Krakoa) until only Cyclops remains. He is eventually defeated by the Madelyne Pryor clones. Shortly after, Magneto, Storm, Psylocke and Danger arrive at Mister Sinister's city and find out that their teammates were captured.[37] However, the Phoenix Five were able to escape and decided to kill each and every clone of Sinister, ending the threat he posed to mutantkind.[38] Yet the threat of Sinister still goes on as he had actually at some point murdered Katie Kildare, Cyclops' PR agent, and took her place in Utopia, being the Sinister the Phoenix Five confronted and killed been just another clone of him.

Sinister as Prison Guard in Wolverine's Revenge Video Game?

Splitting Miss Sinister

[edit]

As Miss Sinister has started to become a separate character from Mister Sinister, I suggest that we split her section. Who's with me on this? --Rtkat3 (talk) 19:00, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose for not being independently notable, but she might be worth an entry at the character list. I'd prefer the section be copy edited first, though. What does "Miss Sinister who then straps X-23 to a peculiar chair" mean? Argento Surfer (talk) 14:03, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Miss Sinister is a separate character and always has been. Different name, different personality. She's been a villain in numerous stories separate from Mr. Sinister including arcs in X-23, X-Men Blue, and most recently, Dead Man Logan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.101.205.189 (talk) 05:20, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

no, its an extension of sinister. leave it alone. seems to me you dont like transgender storylines, only reason i can think of moving it is to erase that part of sinister. which is integral, as she is his experimental eve, the only clone able to handle the power. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.164.69.53 (talk) 17:12, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Uncited material in need of citations

[edit]

I am moving the following uncited material here until it can be properly supported with inline citations of reliable, secondary sources, per WP:V, WP:NOR, WP:CS, WP:NOR, WP:IRS, WP:PSTS, et al. Some editor(s) indicated cited Gambit (Vol 3) #13 - 14 and X-Men (vol. 2) #94 to support this materials, but I reviewed those books, found very little in the former, and none in the latter, that actually did so.

This diff shows where it was in the article. Nightscream (talk) 17:34, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Extended content

Mister Sinister became an ageless man with chalk-white skin and red eyes. He also gained limited telepathy and a limited form telekinesis, allowing him to project energy attacks. Though he cannot directly control the actions and thoughts of people like some telepaths, he can slightly influence their perceptions, and repeated use of his power on a person can allow him to influence their decisions later in life, causing them to temporarily act against their normal character (though this much influence seems to take years of manipulation). He is also resistant to telepathic probes from others unless he allows such connection to take place (Professor Xavier was not able to scan his mind normally but was able to repress some of Sinister's memories with the villain's permission). As a result of experiments upon himself using genetic material from the mutant Courier, Mister Sinister has complete control of his body at the cellular level, allowing him to shape-shift and regenerate from injury.

According to one story, the mutant Sinister is classified as "Alpha-level."
