I think you are talking about his superb goal against USSR in 88' European finals but you have to use English in this website. With respect, Deliogul 20:07, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV tag

[edit]

I have put an NPOV tag on the manager section. I think it underrepresents the harsh criticism he has had, only mentioning the criticism on dropping RvN.Reading this article I would not get the impression that he has been cricized pretty heavily after the WC, and moreso after poor performances in the qualifications, and that he is probably the least popular manager of the Dutch team in recent history. The article does a good job in framing the criticism it does mention in an NPOV way (" has been cricicized"). I would like to see more of it framed the same way, maybe with " answers" with the few supporters hes still has(such as Cruijff) Merijn2 20:56, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Merijn. For example, there was an article by Cruyff, stating that the current Dutch players lack skills, in stead of Van Basten. However, resistance against his performance increases. Spencer 02:47, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added news about his resignation with a link, but it was replaced with an incorrect claim stating that he resigned because Ajax failed to qualify (which also removed the reference). I had to undo that, as this claim is untrue, he himself claims it's because of not meeting expectations the whole season and not seeing a possible improvement next season. The claim that it's because of not qualifying is someone's personal opinion and not a fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.202.221.228 (talk) 13:54, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How is that possible?

[edit]

The article states that Van Basten "announced retirement in 1995, at the age of 29." but that he was born in 1964. One of these details must be wrong.

Manager of Chelsea FC

[edit]

The article claims twice that he is the manager of Chelsea...this isn't true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.66.105.139 (talk) 00:05, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Euro 88

[edit]

Article states "including a memorable volley in the final against the Soviet Union" low in the lead. But isn't van Basten, in a global perspective, most famous for the Gold in Euro 88 ? The Ajax stuff is less importaint, I think. 83.249.162.219 (talk) 17:41, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Protection

[edit]

Can someone please protect this page? Some unregistered users keep adding a lot of unsourced and impartial content, while removing or changing other cited information; I went and corrected all of this, but it was very frustrating and time consuming, and I would like to avoid this happening again in the future. Thanks! Best, Messirulez (talk) 13:48, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
