Crests

[edit]

Do many lapwings have long wispy crests? If so, it'd be nice to mention. --Menchi (Talk)â 08:20, 15 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Red-kneed Dotterel

[edit]

Red-kneed Dotterel - my books list this as Charadrius cinctus. Has there been recent evidence to support its transfer to the lapwings? MPF 15:00, 31 Jan 2004 (UTC)

About 90% of the references I can find point to Erythrogonys. - UtherSRG 15:32, 31 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Needs tightening

[edit]

I must admit, this is a bit of a minefield, with some archaic nomenclature that must be accomodated. But the article first says that Vanellinae are included in plovers, and then states that plovers are included in Vanellinae. Aboctok (talk) 15:47, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline and conservation

[edit]

I have heard on the radio this morning (Sunday 16 September 2018) that there has been a decline in lapwing numbers in recent years, but there have been attempts to up the numbers of lapwings again by conservation methods. Does any one who edits this article know anything about this? Vorbee (talk) 08:08, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
