Oracle Enterprise Linux missing from the picture

[edit]

Since last year there is another Linux distribution: Oracle Enterprise Linux, based on Red Hat. Now they started with Oracle Enterprise Linux 4, and have released for few week already Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.

Distributions doing regression tests and continuous integration

[edit]

A huge difference in the quality of the distribution comes from the presence of a continuous integration service, where applicable. For instance, many linux users have no idea that Debian CI checks each new package test suite against reverse dependencies test suites, which vastly improves the quality of the distribution. Technical - The column of default fs

[edit]

It's not about supported fs, just the dafault one. ~~~ mcg (talk) 20:48, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In General it's not logic a distro is forked from Ubuntu prior to 2004 mcg (talk) 17:10, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Apple Silicon Support" section

[edit]

Asahi Linux Fedora Remix has been available for quite a while, yet the section just lists Fedora as "Unknown direct install, working virtualization, and N/A community version". It's not obvious what these table headers mean, and the information seems out of date.

I'm also unsure if Apple Silicon is that important of a platform to warrant an entire section on this page. Runxi Yu (talk) 13:31, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gentoo kernel should not say "binary blobs"

[edit]

The Gentoo kernel has blobs available in the linux-firmware download, but by default are not added, and not always required to use it. This should be noted, as it should be entirely possible to use Gentoo without any proprietary firmware, software, or blobs. You need to edit a file to show you agree with licenses (per-program or in general) before downloading anything. It may not be considered completely free due to the ability to add to it, but there is definitely more nuance to the issue than simply writing "binary blobs" can show.
