Stereolithography most common?

[edit]

The article claims that Stereo Lith is the most common method. Any reference on that? From my own experience Fused Deposition Modeling seems more common these days, but an actual reference would be good. -- Kaszeta 14:19, 20 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I think you may be right in that FDM is becoming more popular than STL, but most likely any indication of one of these being favored over another is POV and will be quickly dated. Probably the reference should be removed or weakened. --ssd 12:28, 22 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Agreed. I reworded it to be less POV. -- Kaszeta 13:00, 22 Oct 2004 (UTC)

STL file format?

[edit]

Where would be a good place to mention the widely used STL file format? This format is used not only in the rapid manufacturing industry. It is also used to exchange sets of triangles that approximate components to be manufactured. The format is for example used in the toolmaking industry.

Getting a little silly here...

[edit]

This article is accumulating more linkspam than actual content. Before long it will just be a directory of machine shops. Can anyone with who knows the subject manage to go through and strip out the chaff from the wheat, so to speak? If there's no takers I'll have a go myself, but it's not my subject so I'd prefer not to risk making a mistake. TheBendster (talk) 14 May 2008, 19:21 (UTC)
