Height

[edit]

How tall is this guy? Every source I can find has a different listing but Club America's official site doesn't give any listing at all!

ESPN says 1.85 m [1] IM Scouting says 1.84 m [2] IMDB says 1.83 m [3] Goal.com says 1.80 m [4] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.238.105 (talk) 12:14, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On Mexican Football Federations site they list him at 1.83 m http://www.femexfut.org.mx/portalv2/secciones.aspx?s=913 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.143.141.64 (talk) 07:11, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.14.36.165 (talk) 17:26, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Failed to make Impact

[edit]

In the International section of his article it says this about a match against Costa Rica

"He made his 2010 World Cup qualification debut on 28 March 2009 against Costa Rica. Ochoa kept a clean sheet as Mexico won the match 2–0,but he failed to make a impact"

I dont understand what sort of Impact a goalie is expected to have other then keeping the opposing team from scoring. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.143.141.64 (talk) 07:15, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Memo1.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Memo1.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Appearances for América?

[edit]

I’m unsure whether the number of appearances given for América is accurate. If I sum up what I consider league apperances only (all Liga MX and Liguilla entries) from Transfermarkt I arrive at 150. The same page also gives the total number of games played for América as 182, which includes domestic and international cups, which I understand should not be counted in the infobox data.

I’m admittedly new to editing this sort of information. If I’m understanding something wrong, perhaps someone can enlighten me? Failing that, I would edit the number of appearances as per the above. Thanks in advance. Laanders (talk) 13:29, 22 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To pipe club names or not

[edit]

Up until a few months ago, see e.g. this version from November 2013, there was no consistency about whether club names were piped or not, so we have Villarreal and Sevilla rather than Sevilla FC and Villarreal CF alongside Galatasaray S.K. and OGC Nice rather than Galatasaray and Nice. In the next couple of months the piping was made consistent, so that all clubs of whatever nationality were piped. This is the normal way of doing it in English, and it's remained consistent since.

When the player changed club, his new club was added as Málaga CF, so at the same time as adding a source for the move, I piped it to Málaga for consistency with the article and with standard English usage. Another editor restored the CF. I reverted with edit summary "all the club names in this article are piped: no reason to make an exception for Málaga". The other editor promptly un-piped all the club names in the body of the article, apart from Fulham and Manchester United, without explanation.

I've invited them to comment here. Struway2 (talk) 18:44, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your invitation. So, usually Spanish clubs are used with the initials, Málaga CF, Sevilla FC, FC Barcelona. From what I observe, English only clubs not. Have the player career summary, it is admitted that the name be shortened, but the story is used the entire name. Gringoladomenega (talk) 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for coming :-) Please remember this is the English Wikipedia, so we're supposed to write in standard English usage. In English, Spanish clubs aren't commonly referred to with the initials. See e.g. BBC, Guardian, this one or any other of the articles linked at the Independent Spanish football topic, articles linked at Sky Sports La Liga page, etc.
Also, the page was already stable without initials for clubs of all nationalities, not just Spanish. We're not supposed to change an acceptable format just because we happen to prefer a different one. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:19, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Pipe it. And @Gringoladomenega: do not try to sneak your edit back in again, it can be considered disruptive.QED237 (talk) 22:49, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
