Environmental Issues

[edit]

Mark Hoppus is very well known for his devotion to the saving of the rain forest and his involvement in the global warming movement. He is known for founding the M.S.E. (Musicians Saving the Environment), an organization of musicians dedicated to saving the environment. So far he has made over 20 trips to Brazil in attempt to stop local farmers from cutting down tress in the Brazilian rain forests since the organization was first founded in 2004. This information was obtained from various posts from his official blog site.

In the Discography table shouldn't the band column for the compilation Short Music For Short People be listed as Various Artists not as Blink 182? That would be more consistent with the other compilations listed. 82.10.101.241 17:39, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Blink182greatesthits.jpg

[edit]

Image:Blink182greatesthits.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 14:20, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Errors

[edit]

So basically mark just blasted wikipedia on his website.. hence it's called use sources. himynameismark.com shows the article and shows what is wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.236.115.94 (talk) 21:33, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some quotes taken from [1];

"in any case, i checked it out today, and indeed the entry is wrong. not that it matters, but my name is mark allan hoppus...also, my sister’s name is anne mcmurray (not wright)...AND, as much as i wish i did, i do not own part of famous stars and straps."

These are the mistakes Mark himself pointed out on his website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.206.115.118 (talk) 22:27, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also we SHOULD update the picture.. that picture of mark is 4 years old and is a bit out dated.. --99.236.115.94 (talk) 01:20, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mark revelated recently that he's not satisfacted with his photo in wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lara Conde (talkcontribs) 23:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC) Change the picture! This is not Mark Hoppus, he said it himself. Either change it or delete it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.113.169.61 (talk) 16:52, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He said those things about another picture.--GraafGeorge (talk) 19:10, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No he said "those things" about that picture. That's why that picture is on http://www.youhavedumbface.com/ which is a site he made BECAUSE of that picture. He even cites the URL of the specific wikipedia picture in his blog about how wikipedia is wrong. http://www.pickrset.com/markhoppus/?p=248 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.197.21.3 (talk) 21:04, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Haha i so remember that tweet!!! i laughed. Wikipedia just cant get the facts about the greatest band in the worldd —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.98.68.9 (talk) 19:07, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life

[edit]

I think it should be added that mark hoppus's mom and him used to be beaten by his dad repeatedly and when he always wondered why his mom never left him, she said that she just had no where to go when she leaves him. So forced to stay with the man that hurt her, mark wrote a song about it called "go" in their self titled album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fistfullofdavid (talkcontribs) 02:33, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

i think it's also worth noting that mark will be at an anti-prop8 rally. at least add it after he's been there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blink1821985 (talkcontribs) 15:36, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Errr... What?

Where is your source? My mother babysat him. He was constantly happy (and repeatedly locked my mother outside of the house.) Also, my dad is friends with his father (He rides a harley in Ridgecrest, and is part of the Hog Group.) But seriously, source please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.55.251.12 (talk) 03:08, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The image File:Blink182 old.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --04:19, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Austiiinnnn, 4 July 2011

[edit]

Why can I not edit this page? People are putting this "Heezy" crap all over it.

Austiiinnnn (talk) 21:15, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done He had posted on his twitter earlier today that he wants to be known as Heezy. During all of this the page got protected which is why you couldn't edit, though the IPs couldn't after that either. I have changed it back now. Jnorton7558 (talk) 22:51, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Rascalrucker, 8 July 2011

[edit]

Hello, what I would like to edit on this page is I would like to add that Mark Hoppus is also known as Young Heezy. He asked for this to be edited on wikipedia via his twitter account and I would really like to be the one to get it changed because i love Blink-182. Thank you

Rascalrucker (talk) 02:46, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: See the similar requests above. I don't think one Twitter post is notable enough for inclusion. If secondary sources start using the new stage name, inclusion may be considered. Feezo (send a signal | watch the sky) 15:04, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Religion

[edit]

I found an interview with Mark Hoppus where he speaks about religion. http://www.decapolis.com/musicreviews/interviews/blinkinterview.shtml

I think it's worth updating. JacenEnda (talk) 20:02, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Add protection padlock template

Please add an appropriate page-protection template to the top of this page, assuming you get to this before the protection expires in a couple of days. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:10, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Birth date and birthplace

[edit]

I have removed Hoppus's birthdate (per WP:DOB) and birthplace, as neither are in the citation given. Source is a non-reliable blog that simply says "It's Mark Hoppus' birthday today"; the page is neither dated to give the day/month, nor is there any mention of Hoppus's birth year. His birthplace is not in citation.

The text of the Rolling Stone citation that follows also contains no mention of Hoppus's birthdate, birthplace, the name of his mother, or his father's birthdate. 99.113.173.204 (talk) 23:42, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
