I object to Schyman and the reformed Vänsterpartiet being referred to as "populist". I also consider calling the KFML "secterist" without further elaboration to be POV. I welcome the opinions of others on this.

This article needs through rewrting, it`s obviously not objective, and furthermore full of errors.--Soman 00:06, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Maybe the category should have a short intro explaining that it includes both current and former Left Party politicians (I will write one). In fact, maybe all the categories should (e.g. Maria Carlshamre was in Category:Swedish Liberal Party politicians until I moved her to Minor parties). Do all these categories include people who switched party? Tamino 11:26, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did Schyman ever refer to herself as a communist? I know that Lars Ohly did (until recently), and that the Ung Vänster leader continues to call herself a communist, but not all Left Party members and politicians call themselves communists. Many feel that the term has been sullied by the totalitarian governments that have used it. I don't think Schyman should be categorised as a communist unless she identified (or rather, identifies) herself as one. Tamino 20:23, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the explanatory note at that category:
"This category lists people who have, at one time or another, been active in Swedish communist politics through either identifying themselves as communists or being members of parties identifying themselves as communist. It should not be taken for granted that inclusion in this category implies that figures remained their whole life or continue to be communists"
I assume that it has been added to all these "communist" categories to counter objections like the one you raise (eg. see senior UK minister John Reid). Gudrun Schyman is a legitimate candidate for inclusion in that cat due to her previous membership of the Marxist-Leninist Struggle League for the Communist Party of Sweden (m-l), which certainly conforms to the criterion: "identifying themselves as communist". --Mais oui! 20:31, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fine. If it is "at one time or another" then she should definately stay in the category. Tamino 16:02, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, she was also the vice-president of the Left Party - Communists. However, she later claimed that "she was never a communist". political schizophrenia at its best. --Soman 16:16, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
From sv:Gudrun Schyman, Schyman tog som första partiledare avstånd från kommunismen Schyman was the first Left Party leader to oppose communism. So, I suppose she was a communist, but not anymore, and should be removed from the category Entheta 13:21, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Or perhaps, if the category states as above, that they were communists "at one time or another", she should stay in it, although I'm not sure what purpose of the category serves Entheta 13:23, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is she Jewish?

Background

[edit]

Nothing is mentioned about Schyman's personal background. Was she raised in a feminist family? Who are her parents? Which professional training has she had before becoming a politician? What are her vocational qualifications? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:45:4904:DFED:5D9B:3F1F:6263:66C0 (talk) 09:21, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Left Fi?

[edit]

"She left the party in 2022"

This appears to be untrue, per the Fi website as of today. Harfarhs (talk) 20:46, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
