From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi Bernhard.

First see Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers, if you haven't already.

OpenFacts at http://openfacts.berlios.de is the open source knowledge database provided by BerliOS. [1] is probably the best place for your article. There it can potentially be seen by those interested in opensource software, etc.

Wikipedia on the other hand is an encyclopedia, and the requirement for an article is that is is encyclopedic see Wikipedia:What's in, what's out and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, and I have to wonder whether your article is worthy of a page in the encyclopedia. That's why I've listed it on Articles for deletion - it's nothing personal or anything. The people there will read the page and comment on it, and following the deletion policy decide to keep or delete the page as appropriate, over a period of five days. The best way you can help us is by indicating anyway that you feel that your program is helpful. There may be lesser ways you can mention it, for example by placing it as an external link in the cryptography article that may be more acceptable. By your placing of it in the encyclopedia there is a possible conflict of interest, and the best way to resolve that is to run it through vfd.

Hope that helps. Happy editing.

Welcome

Hello there! I've had a look at the CrypTool web page, and it seems to be a great bit of software, though I agree with Dunc Harris that it's more appropriate for OpenFacts, rather than Wikipedia. You seem to be interested in educating people about Cryptography — I thought I'd invite you to take part in Wikipedia:WikiProject Cryptography, I don't know if you'd be interested. (There's also a de:Wikipedia:WikiProjekt_Kryptologie for German language articles). Maybe we could adapt some of your tutorials from CrypTool's online help, or some such? — Matt 15:31, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC)
