Taiwan Article and Nation

[edit]

Hey. I saw that you've been helping out with the Taiwan article. Would you continue to keep your eye on the article and try to suggest something that is a good compromise? Jiang doesn't understand the difference between nation and state, and he keeps saying everyone is so muddled about it that we shouldn't use it. I think something like nation but expanding on the meaning to prevent even the rare confusion that Jiang is, of course, just so unbiasedly worried about. What's really funny is that Jiang doesn't realize if he's going to challenge the use of nation on Taiwan's article, then China's article's use of nation competely doesn't fit either, haha. Take a look. Thanks.--160.39.195.88 03:51, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Your edits are not helping. If you've been reverted several times, it's best to cool it and take it to talk. --MarkSweep 04:32, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Mark, I appreciate your concern, however you should note that Jiang is having editing wars on every page he edits. He has been POV pushing for quite some time. --50Stars 04:35, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Regardless of Jiang's POV, your edits are against the relevant naming conventions. Please review them carefully, and if you have changed to propose, gain consensus on the talk page. Thanks! --Xiaopo 04:39, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

That's because Jiang has changed the naming conventions. Here's a question: How many people does China have employed to edit Wiki pages? The answer? 3 billion. It takes 3 billion mainland Chinese to do the wiki work of one westerner.
Jiang didn't change the naming conventions -- they've been hammered into their present form over a long period of time through the consensus of the editors. It follows that for you to propose a change, you need to gain consensus for your view. I have no objection to your doing so, but please don't just blatantly disregard the conventions.
Is that supposed to be some sort of racial slur? I'm not from the mainland, incidentally. --Xiaopo 04:48, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
No, it is a politically motivated slur. I abhor the fact that the Chinese government censor everything, including the internet. I would not be surprised if they have 3 billion editors slaving away.--50Stars 04:52, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
To turn this back on subject, what Mark is trying to say is that on pages like List of national flags, we have a set of rules to how to mention the People's Republic of China and Republic of China. Though I do agree with you that many people and the press call the two nations China and Taiwan, respectively. However, we have Wikipedia editors from both sides of the isle, so we had to do something that will make both sides happy. With the naming conventions that editors have axed out, that is making people happy.
As for your edits on the List of national flags, we are already dealing with problems about the status of Palestine being on the list. Your possible POV pushing is causing more headaches for us. I would like to as you to (as you have done) go to the talk pages and present your issue with clamness and with facts. One more thing, please do not use racial/political slurs on here, since Wikipedia does not allow for personal attacks. Thank you. Zscout370 (talk) 23:07, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The article ARGUS Software has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Advertisement for non-notable product, back office software for real estate brokers. Has a "flagship product". References are to press releases announcing mergers and other routine deals or to interviews with business principals, and do not establish deep coverage or significant effects on history, technology, or culture.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
