Source of group's name

[edit]

The group's name translates as green negresses; and arose from abuse hurled at the members at one of the group's first concerts. The insult is a comparison to the kitsch art of Vladimir Tretchikoff.

This statement above needs some kind of citation as it completely disagrees with other statements about the source of the name. For example here: http://musique.rfi.fr/artiste/chanson/negresses-vertes it says:

L'appellation de Négresses Vertes a été trouvée, lors d'une bagarre dans un bal à l'été 87. En effet, les amis, dont les cheveux étaient colorés en vert pour l'occasion, se sont fait jeter dehors par des vigiles au cri de "Sortez d'ici les négresses vertes…". L'insulte les fait beaucoup rire et ils l'adoptent comme nom de groupe. I translate this as:

The name Négresses Vertes was found during fight at a dance in the summer of '87. The friends had dyed their hair green for the occasion and were kicked out of the ball by security with the cry: "Get the green negresses out of here". This insult made them laugh and they adopted it as the name of the group.

I added their recent album to the discography section, and a date next to their second album. You see, I'm actually really nice when I want to be. Baba p.s. I also added a bit more about the musical style, the year they came into existence (as a band, that is) and a sentence about the drugs overdose. I hope I added something of worth to the article, if so, the stuff about musical style, instruments, rhythm etc. was me, but most of the other stuff was taken from the 'a l'affliche' album insert and from the French article. Have a nice day. p.p.s. You should really try pretzels dipped in yoghurt, it's really nice. (delete that bit if you want...)

I've added in all the single releases - there are a lot more remix CDs and collaborations out there as well, which could be added - zigzague.
