The Pepperpot is a historic building in Godalming, a town in Surrey, in England.

The building was constructed in 1814, to replace a timber town hall.[1][2] It was designed by John Perry, and provided a first floor room, to house the town council, and an open space on the ground floor, which housed a market. A new stair tower was added in the 1890s.[3] The building soon proved too small for public meetings, and in 1861, a public hall was constructed on Bridge Street. In 1908, the hall was extended to form Godalming Borough Hall, new municipal buildings for the town.[4][1] The room at the Pepperpot was then used to house Godalming Museum. The museum remained until 1987, when it moved to a larger building across the road.[5] The Pepperpot now serves as a meeting room, while the ground floor provides space for a greengrocer's stall twice a week.[6] Oliver Mason describes it as a "much needed focal point" for the town.[2]

The design involved a symmetrical main frontage with three bays facing onto the High Street; it was arcaded on the ground floor, with an assembly room on the first floor. The end elevations were canted so as to give an octagonal shape and at roof level there was a two-stage clock tower with a cupola for the second stage. The clock was manufactured by Richard Steadman. At the rear, the windows are blind, and there is a cantilevered stair-tower. The building has been grade II listed since 1947.[3]
