According to a report on BBC television's Newsnight programme this evening (12 May 2005), the government has bowed to the force of ridicule and abandoned the new name... -- Picapica 22:26, 12 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A disambigation page of Department of Trade and Industry was created since there is also a Phillipenes DTI. I have moved the disambig to Department of Trade and Industry (disambiguation) since 99% of links to Department of Trade and Industry are for the UK version. See Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Primary_topic. Comment here: --Tagishsimon (talk)

I have reverted the redirect to the new Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform page, as I think it is important to retain the separate identity of the DTI as it existed up to 2007. Instead I have linked to the new page, and have changed the tense of the page to the past. There are of course many links to this page, but I am guessing that many of them will remain historically accurate to point to this page rather than the new one. The result of the move request was: page moved. Andrewa (talk) 01:11, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Department of Trade and IndustryDepartment of Trade and Industry (United Kingdom) — There are now three other DTI's listed at Department of Trade and Industry (disambiguation), all of which are non-defunct (unlike this one). In 2006 when the original move was made, the argument was based on the number of links; but the criterion at WP:PT is not based on links, but on the likelihood of the user wanting a particular topic when they search for that title. I think that, now that the UK department is no longer called the DTI, it's not clear that it's "much more likely than any other, and more likely than all the others combined" to be the topic a user is looking for when searching for that title. htonl (talk) 08:02, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
