hubs

[edit]

do gigabit ethernet hubs exist or only switches? Plugwash 05:00, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cat 5 is the minimum

[edit]

The minimum requirement is Category 5, not 5e (check the 802.3 standard). The 5e minimum is a common misconception. I'll fix it unless someone has an objection, and include some info on why it's definitely a good idea to use 5e. Dbosso 06:22, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Huh?

[edit]

Is this a joke?

Each network segment can have a maximum distance of 100 metres. This usually consists of 90 m horizontal (inside the building), 9 m at the patch panel, and 1 m from the port to the computer or node.

I don't get it. 69.207.150.196 02:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i'm guessing its a guideline as to how much allowance to make for patch leads at the ends when installing wiring in a building, either way its not to relavent here so its going. Plugwash 10:22, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
